Autunno Viola
DOCUMENTARY
SYNOPSIS
In autumn 2010, the ancient balances that have shaped the community of Viola Castello for centuries, among the chestnut groves of the Piedmontese Ligurian Alps, are now nearing their end. The abandonment of the mountains, globalization in chestnut growing, but above all a radical change in values mark the condemnation of an ecosystem based on an ancestral relationship between man and nature. The documentary made with a handycam, by a "son of the community" up to that time and a Colombian filmmaker, provides different readings of a phenomenon - that of depopulation - which appears inevitable. Through levels of analysis structured on different depths, Autumn Violet tackles, between poetry and fatalism, issues of peasant everyday life, of relationships between man and his territory, of victories with a bittersweet flavor.
